Mouse Skates

Skates are the most overlooked part of an aim setup. They are also the fastest thing to fix. Worn or contaminated PTFE makes any surface feel scratchy, inconsistent and loud, and most players blame the pad long before they blame the feet. On a glasspad in particular, PTFE wears faster than it does on cloth, so treating skates as a consumable is part of running a glass surface properly.

Replace them when the glide starts feeling uneven, when you can see the edges rounding, or when the pad develops a sound it did not have before. More on this in our guide to keeping a glass surface consistent.
